Cornwall Film Festival’s 10th Birthday PartyFri | 4 Nov | 18.45-19.30+ | Lighthouse Cinema Foyer
Come and celebrate 10 years of growing Cornwall’s only major film festival, with a slice of birthday cake designed by Cornwall College’s advanced pastry students and a glass of wine or something bubbly, thanks to Polgoon Vineyard and St Austell Brewery. With a few words by interesting folks who have been with the Festival since its inception in 2001 and some music. Nicely timed between screenings to allow everyone to join in. Don’t forget to practise ‘Happy Birthday’ in Cornish: Penn-bloodh lowen dhiso jy,

Big Pitcher / Best of o-region Screenings + “Tamara”
Sun | 6 Nov | 19.30-21.00 | Screen 1 | 90min
It's that time of year for The Greatest Short Ever Sold. What did last year's Big Pitcher winners do with their windfall of £125? Did they create the film of their dreams? Or of our nightmares? Not to be missed. Especially because rumour has it that a NEW film challenge is in the works . . . but you have to be there to learn more!

Not to be missed. Especially because rumour has it that a NEW film challenge is in the works . . . but you have to be there to learn more!
To be followed by a selection of previous o-region Film Challenge winners.
But first up, it's the official premiere screening of the Govyn Kernewek Cornish-language short Tamara, directed by Will Coleman, co-written with Graham Mitchell

What were Davey and Dawe up to last night? Well, it involved a rubber dinghy, a homemade bomb and the Tamar Bridge! But the boys didn't reckon on losing their hearts to Tamara -- fluent Cornish speaker, champion rower and advocate of non-violence.
Pyth a wrug Davey ha Dawe nyhewer? Wel, yth esa skathik ruber, tanbelen gwrys yn chi ha Pons an Tamar! Mes ny wrug an vebyon prederi a-dro kelli aga kolonnow dhe Damara; kernewegores freth, kampyores revya ha skodher erbynn freudh....
With a rich array of historical allusions to the symbolic and political history of the Tamar river, Tamara entertains, informs and, with tongue firmly in cheek, confronts head-on some contemporary issues around self-determination, Cornish nationalism and international terrorism. Dynamite!
Gans aray rych a gampollow dhe'n istori arwodhyek ha politegel an Dowr Tamar, 'Tamara' a dhidhan, a dhysk ha, gans taves yn bogh yn hwiw, a erbynn nebes an dadhlansow a hedhyw a-dro dhe omrewlyans, kenedhlekter kernewk ha brwoaghter kesgwlasek. Dinamit!
