International shorts include our own Another Country touring programme plus the winners of the 2009 Budapest Short Film Festival (BuSho).


Another Country International Short Film Award

15 November 1430–1630, Phoenix Cinema 4

Films in this category are eligible for the £1,000 Another Country International Short Film Award. Audiences have been voting on these films around the county throughout the autumn. Today is the final vote. Collect your voting slip from the Information Desk, or upon entry to Screen 4.

In addition to the films in competition, two longer films will be screened:

Ashura: Blood and Beauty

The mix of modernity and tradition in southern Lebanon has made the 1,300-year-old Shia Muslim ritual of Ashura an annual opportunity for young people to meet and find potential spouses. A fascinating insight.
