The Festival opened in style with wine and canapés at the Princess Pavilion in

The opening Gala Screening of Terence Davies’ critically acclaimed Of Time and the City with introduction by Mark Kermode was loved by the Cornish audience and hailed as a masterpiece! This was followed by a late night screening of Mark Tonderai’s Hush, a scary British chiller by Warp X Productions.
Heavy Load – A Film About Happiness, an uplifting documentary following the lives of a Brighton-based punk collective, three of whom have learning disabilities, was described as ‘Film of the Year’ by local director Brett Harvey.
The Saturday night Gala Preview of Blindness showcased to a full house at Princess Pavilion with a special introduction by executive Producer Simon Channing-Williams and a personal note to the Festival from director Fernando Merielles.

2008 Award Winners
The awards ceremony opened with the World Premier screening of the winner of the Govynn Kernewek Award 2007, Jack Morrison’s Nebes Geryow A-dro Dhe'n SWF. Govynn Kernewek is the Festival’s annual award for the best short film proposal to be shot in the Cornish language. This year’s winner, Paul Farmer with Skath, which is Cornish for ‘Gig’, was awarded a £5000 film commission by competition sponsors Maga. The film will be premiered at The Cornwall Film Festival 2009.
George and Thessellie Hamilton of Delabole Slate awarded the Delabole Slate ‘Best Student Film’ Audience Award to Nicholas Raybould, Josh Trenchard and Sam Chamberlain with Heaven in a Bottle.

Seven would-be filmmakers went home with a smile and £100 apiece after winning over the audience at The Big Pitcher on Sunday 11th November at Falmouth's Princess Pavilion.
The winners of the Delabole Slate Audience Award, and Delabole Slate Award for Best Student Film were presented with their well-deserved prizes by George and Thessellie Hamilton of the North Cornwall firm at a ceremony on the last night of the Festival on Sunday 11th November.
The project management company headquartered in Cornwall has offered its support to Cornwall Film Festival's World Premiere of "Dressing Granite", the adaptation of the renowned Pauline Sheppard play directed by Bill Scott.
