The BBC are kindly sponsoring three of our great screenings, and allowing visitors to the Cornwall Film Festival to be the first in the country to preview this year's BBC New Music Shorts.

The winners of BBC New Music Shorts 2007, the competition which challenges filmmakers to come up with original films inspired by new music, will be showcased on Saturday 10 November, from 1pm in the National Maritime Museum Lecture Theatre. Be one of the first in the country to see these extraordinary examples of new filmmaking talent, from a satire on what happens behind closed doors at a summit on world poverty (Bad Is As Bad Does - The Earlies, dir. Jonny Madderson), to stories of how love can last more than half a century in "50 Years and a Few Puss Kittens Wiser" (Twin Tub Twin - King Creosote vs Tunng, dir. Anastasia Kirillova/Matteo Manzini). The screening will be followed by a Q & A with Illy Woolfson from the BBC Film Network.

The BBC Film Network is also lending its valuable support to our two Cornish Shorts in Competition screenings, taking place in the Princess Pavilion from 11:30-13:00, and 16:00-17:30, also on Saturday 10 November. All the films shown in these screenings are eligible for the Delabole Slate "Film of the Festival" Audience Award, which will be presented on Sunday 1 November at the Awards Ceremony (Princess Pavilion, from 19:00).  This award is chosen entirely by an audience vote, with voting slips available at the Information Desk, or on entry to the auditorium.

Jane Darke's moving documentary, The Art of Catching Lobsters, which is showing on Sunday 11 November at 14:00 in the Princess Pavilion, also owes its existence to help from the BBC, which partially funded the making of the film.

The Cornwall Film Festival wishes to thank the BBC for its continuing support and generous help.
